I will be visiting the Christian Resources Exhibition at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate on either the 25th or 26th September 2008 – depending on whichever date proves to be the most popular – and I would love for a group of us to go! The exhibition, for those who have never heard or attended before, is a great way of finding out what resources are out there for equipping anybody and everybody in the church.

Tickets are £3.50 each for a group of 5 or more, and there are lots of details about the features and exhibits online at www.creonline.co.uk. A brochure is available for you to look at in the foyer. As with everything, it is best to book early, so could you please let me know by the 31st July if you would like to attend?

Thank you, Yours in Christ, Helen.

Money collected from donations or Fairtrade goods bought will go to help the work of PARC (Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee) and hopefully provide Olive Trees/Almond Trees and water tanks/supply to those on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The theme for decorating the church this year is ‘Christmas Carols’. We are asking church and community organizations to do pictures, collages or models to illustrate a Christmas Carol of their choice, so if you know anyone who would like to join in please encourage them. The models need to be on bases not bigger than 60 cm (approx. two feet) square but pictures can be any size. They should illustrate a Carol and NOT a Christmas song like Jingle Bells.

The church will be open for people to look at the contributions during the week beginning December 17th. We would appreciate help to look after the church during opening hours which will be 2.30 to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 2.30pm to the start of the Carol Service at 6.30pm on Saturday 22nd. There will be a rota in the foyer so please put your name on if you can help.

Thank you.

(Also includes the sacrament of Baptism)
The theme for this year is Fire and Water – reflecting the two banners already up in the church.

It would be nice to have the window sills decorated (as in previous years) and so if there are any willing volunteers, here is your chance to display your talents. One side of the church will represent Fire – the other side Water – three window sills for each. How you create your display is entirely your choice – so come on, get your thinking caps on and let your creative juices start flowing! Could let me know which window sill you’d like to do, thank you – Helen.

Christ Church, Longridge.
Sunday September 16th at 6.30pm.

Come and celebrate this landmark in the history of the Methodist Church and Christianity as a whole.
Charles Wesley was born on December 18th 1707 and died in London on March 29th 1788.
Celebrations are going on all this year – nationally, in districts, in circuits and in individual churches. Christ Church, Longridge is to have its own celebration on Sunday September 16th at 6.30 pm.
We shall sing many of the favourite Wesley hymns and the service will also feature some of his poetry.
If you wish to be involved in choosing the hymns to be sung then you can indicate your choices on the slip available in the church foyer – or you can just come along and enjoy the occasion. — Geoff Balson
